We will not replace or refund shipped liquid yeast that arrives warm/hot under any circumstances. Adding an icepack is an option that may minimize issues when weather is warm or hot in New Jersey, your state, or anywhere in between. Additionally, you may want to have liquid yeast shipped separately with an express shipping method such as UPS next day if you are outside of UPS one-day ground zones. This yeast is known for its high attenuation, achieving 80% even with 10% ABV beers. The high attenuation eliminates residual sweetness, making the yeast well-suited for high gravity ales and clean, well-attenuated beer styles. This strain has become a go-to house strain for American breweries due to its clean profile and high attenuation. It's an ideal strain for American and English hoppy beers as well as malty ambers, porters and brown ales. This strain can be a substitute for WLP001 California Ale Yeast.

Bobby's thoughts: Whitelabs has once again upped the anti on yeast technology. Sure, there are other labs packing 200B cells in a single pack but none of them have Pure Pitch packaging technology. Why does it matter? Traditional yeast packaging tech, such as vials, cans, and smackpacks etc typically lose more than 20% yeast viability per month of cold storage from the date of packaging. Purepitch remains 99% viable. It gets even worse at 3 months. Typical packaging viability goes all the way down to 33% while purepitch is at 91%. There is no practical way to control the age of the pack when you're shopping whether online or in person. Even the best intentioned retailers are forced to sell packs a couple/few months old if they are going to stock the maximum number of strains. Buying yeast with purepitch technology takes out the question of viability off the table so you can plan you pitch rates (or starter sizes) well in advance.
