This flange soldered very nicely onto the top of my stainless fermenter lid......the second time!
I recommend watching the instruction video several times before putting a flame on your brewing equipment.
Even though I thought I had totally screwed up the job I was able to save the fermenter by removing the flange by re-flowing the solder, clean up the surfaces, and (using a clamp like Bobby had in the video) rework it to make a solid solder joint. This project cleaned up very well and I look forward to using it for pressure transfers from my fermenter!
Next time around I will slow down and walk through the steps before putting heat to it.
