Description

This 304 stainless steel ball valve has 1" / 1.5" TC flanges on both ends and is built in two main pieces. The valve can be taken apart just by loosening the large TC clamp in the center. You will gain access to the seals, ball and main valve cavity for fast cleaning which is key for any cold size operation or fermenter. The bore is exactly 5/8" which is fine for most drain applications. If you need a bigger bore such as for use in a conical dump, we also have 1.5" butterfly valves available.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE. Though this valve comes apart by hand via a central TC clamp, by design it is still a ball valve that seals due to being squeezed between two PTFE seats. These seats get "lapped in" to a particular valve. When you take this valve apart for cleaning, you must either leave the PTFE seats in place or keep each of their install locations straight. That is, do not swap the positions of the seats. It is even more important not to swap seats between different valves. If you do swap positions or valves, you are likely to encounter slow leaks or at the very least have to crank down on the central TC valve much harder.

1 of 5 Leaks no matter what I do September 26, 2020

I cannot get these to stop leaking, waste of money. I have other tri-clamp ball valves from a  different company that work very well. I do not recommend these ones.

BrewHardware.com Response: It sounds like you have a defective PTFE seal in the valve/valves. Upon further look, you ordered two valves a year and a half ago and the seats usually set in to a particular valve. If you took both apart and swapped the seats between valves, it can cause leaks. Being that they are a year and a half old, we also have no way of knowing if they were exposed to heat or long soaks in PBW or Star San which can damage PTFE.
