This version of our 3/4" ID tubing is Extra Heavy Duty at 3/16" wall thickness. In contrast, our normal 3/4" tubing is 1/8" wall.
The XHD tubing is imported, about 25% less flexible, and also slightly clearer/translucent than our normal tubing. Being that it is less flexible, it is less likely to kink, but it is also a bit more difficult to stretch over slightly oversized hose barbs. Nevertheless, we still recommend 13/16" barbs because the flow is better and the tubing is less likely to slide off.
For comparison's sake, the picture below shows the difference between the XHD and normal tubing in this 3/4" ID size..
Warning: Do NOT leave silicone tubing soaking in Star San sanitizer for more than a few hours at a time. Long term soaking, such as several days to a week, can cause silicone to get brittle.
