If you replace your tailpieces on a Sanke commercial keg coupler with these, you can put swivel flare hose barb adapters on your liquid and gas hoses to make them dis-connectable via the flare nut. Why would you want to do that? Well, in general, it allows you to connect any 1/4" Female Flare (FFL) fitting so use your imagination there. One very common use of this arrangement is to be able to switch between home brew keg couplings and commercial keg couplings. As long as your hoses have the female flare barbs on them AND your homebrew gas and liquid QDs have the male flare (MFL), this is the cheapest way to achieve interchangeability without having to cut the hoses each time you go back and forth.
Note that we also have another way to make your Sanke coupler accept home brew ball lock QD connections but it is a little more expensive.
The beer contact parts are 304 stainless steel and the locking nut is chrome plated brass.
