This is an exceptionally handy part. When the kettle is drained, there is about 4 pints of bitter wort remaining in the lines, tubes, chiller, splitter, and hop-back. I add this fitting to regulated CO2 and connect it to the outlet hose. Although it isn't a ton of beer compared to a 14 gallon batch, it seems wasteful to dump that bitter wort down the drain.
