Description

Hop Type: Aroma
Origin: New Zealand
Alpha Acid: 6.3-7.4%
Similar Varieties: Saaz
Common Styles: Continental Lager Styles, Belgian Ales

Motueka offers vivacious notes of lemon, lime, and tropical fruits. The moderate alpha acid levels make it suitable for a wide range of applications, and it produces excellent results when employed in multiple additions. It offers a balanced bitterness that integrates well with high gravity brews and nicely compliments strong malt characteristics like sweetness and body. While typically used in traditional pilsners and Belgian ales, Motueka is gaining popularity in the American craft brewing scene. It's now being used in an increasingly wide range of American, English and continental styles, including, of course, the IPA.

5 of 5 Motueka hops adds much August 20, 2019
Reviewer: Mike G from Bridgewater, NJ United States
I won some of these hops at a competition and from the description decided to use 4 ounces in a saison. The yeast was 3726 Wyeast which paired awesome with Motueka. Two judges had opposite takes - one score sheet said too hoppy and the other not hoppy enough. When tasting it, the hops were in the background. The citrus notes paired with the Belgium funk.
