1/2" locknut not large enough |

I just installed the 1/2" model on my HD rubbermaid cooler. The threaded locknut that sits inside the cooler wall is too small to adequately compress the gasket. I got a solid leak while testing this, even with a very snug 13/16 inside hole. The gasket warps and twists when you tighten down, not getting a solid seal.
From the looks of it, the 1/4" model may compress alright, but this 1/2" model clearly needs a washer included. When comparing to my other kettle weldless, the larger locknut is used there with the same size gasket. That one makes a nice seal, while this is pretty flimsy.
